Colin & crew (Dave Peters? - I can't remember, Ed.) helped St Ives Pilot Gig Club out with a gig race in July. They gave us some cash and a nice letter.

The letter's here to download. (350 KB mind!) Bloody nice blokes those gig chaps.
The Laying Up Supper 2007
Over 80 members and guests attended the social event of the year and watched trophies awarded, talented members doing their thing and raffled in aid of a new safety boat. More on that story later.
Some of the highlights are pictured below in "Widescreen Blurry Vision".
If you have any better photographs (and let's face it that wouldn't be hard) then please email them to secretary@stivessailingclub.com to be added (or even better ask how to add them yourself!).

If like me you go to this site before linking to the weather site of your choice then you might be puzzled as to where it now is. Don't worry, in an effort to make the most of the number of pages we have it now has its own Useful Links Section here.
You will also find a new link to the weather station at the St Ives Coastwatch Station web site, where you can not only see exactly what the weather is doing in extremely detailed figures but you can also see what is going on in the bay via their webcams. Now your wife or husband can see that you really are out sailing! (Or maybe that's not such a good thing.) Club Newsletter - June
Something to say? If you would like to include something on the web site or in a newsletter then send it to me, simon@apartment13.co.uk . I will only send out a newsletter when we have a few things to say and try to keep it short & sharp. Our main means of communication is the web site.
Alternatively if you would like to get involved in the web site it is very easy to do. You just need to be able to type and have internet access. Again just let me know to get the password and some training. A Word From Our Sponsor
Jill Paton Walsh is a long standing friend of the club and supports us financially from time to time. She gives us money to help the club out as her way of putting something back into the town and she particularly likes to help young sailors. (If you ever wondered where the cash prizes for juniors come from on Regatta day – now you know.) We recently sent her a card to thank her for her latest donation, along with an update on the club. Her reply is here to download and on the new cabin notice board for you to have a read. She’s a very nice person! Club Newsletter - May
The latest Club Newsletter (sent out by e-mail on 17th May 2007) is available to download here.

Racing now in full swing............
After a great start to the season's racing, the weather seems against us once again and we've missed a few races. DON'T GIVE UP!!!
The winds will undoubtedly ease and we'll be back out there before you know it. See you all in the pen.
Calling all shoreline members....
Sorry about the postponed Club Fun Day. The weather wasn't really conducive to leisure sailing but don't despair !!! - we have another Fun Day scheduled for Saturday June 9th.
Any shoreline member who wants to take to the water (and see what all the fuss is about) should contact a committee member as soon as possible to arrange a 'chauffeur driven' cruise around the bay by one of your sailing clubmates.
The plan is to start around midday (high water) and sail for around four hours so all members wanting a sail will get a go!
Get in touch now! to arrange your berth.
How to be a Safety Boat Operator
The club has a copy of the DVD "How to be a Safety Boat Operator" by Neil Driscoll Training.
This is a DVD aimed at refreshing and improving the knowledge and skills of all powerboat drivers, in particular safety craft drivers and their crew. This DVD presents many issues you could be faced with afloat, not just Safety tecniques, but also boat checks, handling and fleet management.
A must see for anyone who operates the club safety boat. Currently with Derek Hall
Next on the list:
Martin Potter
Colin Jefferys Peter Berriman
Terrie Cook
Marcus Millington
The Dangers of Safety Boat Crewing...

This is Dave Peters' buttock! Not attractive I know, but this is the result of not staying on your feet when crewing on the safety boat. Most people in St.Ives have seen it 'in the flesh' but for those who missed it - here it is.
